    How to write a great creator brief

    If you’ve ever been disappointed by influencer content — even after paying for it — it probably wasn’t the creator’s fault. It was the brief. Most creator campaigns fall apart because the brand never clearly explained what they were looking for, what success looked like, and what the non-negotiables were.

    A strong brief sets the tone for the entire collaboration. It gives creators the freedom to do what they do best, while keeping things aligned with your goals.

    Why the brief matters more than you think

    Creators aren’t mind readers. They’re working with multiple brands at once, and they don’t know your product, your audience, or your goals unless you tell them. A good brief should be clear without being overly controlling, give direction without stifling creativity, and reduce back-and-forth.

    What to include in a creator brief

    1. Overview

    A few sentences that explain what the campaign is about, why you’re doing it, and what kind of creator you’re looking to collaborate with.

    We’re launching our new energy drink and working with fitness and lifestyle creators to showcase how it fits into real daily routines — whether that’s gym days, work-from-home grinds, or early morning runs.

    2. Product info

    Give them a one-liner and a couple of bullets: what the product is, why people love it, and what makes it different. Include your website link and any FAQ they might need.

    3. Content format

    • TikTok (15–30s vertical video)
    • Instagram Reel
    • Story series
    • YouTube mention

    Also clarify whether the creator is expected to post, or if the brand will handle usage after.

    4. Talking points

    Don’t write a script, but do include 2–3 key angles or benefits to highlight, a strong hook idea (especially for TikTok), and a soft CTA. Let creators reframe the messaging in their own voice — that’s how it works best.

    5. Do’s and don’ts

    • Do: film in natural light
    • Do: show the product being used
    • Don’t: refer to it as a supplement if it’s regulated
    • Don’t: mention competitors

    6. Timeline

    Set expectations for when the product ships, when content should be submitted, and when it should go live. You can manage all of this in Growi’s timeline tracker — mark content as pending, live, or under review without chasing creators in DMs.

    7. Incentives & payment

    Clarify the payment structure (flat fee, affiliate, hybrid), any performance bonus tiers, and how and when they’ll be paid. If you’re using affiliate links, include tracking links in the brief.
